Susan Allen, LICSW, C-ASWCM

Susan Allen has been working with older adults and their families since 1988 and has been a valued member of Your Elder Experts for more than 20 years. A nationally certified care manager (C-ASWCM), Susan is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and both the national and New England chapters of the Aging Life Care Association.

Families value Susan's extensive knowledge of aging services, healthcare resources, and community supports, as well as her ability to build strong relationships with older adults and their families. She is known for helping families navigate complex situations with confidence, compassion, and practical solutions.

Susan believes that planning ahead can make a meaningful difference. Families often tell her, "I wish we had found you sooner." She helps clients and their loved ones understand their options, coordinate care, connect with trusted resources, and avoid unnecessary crises whenever possible.

One of the aspects of her work Susan finds most rewarding is "connecting the dots," bringing together the right services, professionals, and supports to help older adults live well and families feel supported.

What I Wish Families Knew

Reaching out before a crisis can give you more time to understand your options, plan ahead, and sometimes avoid a crisis altogether.

I also wish families knew the breadth of what we can do. We don’t just make recommendations. We can be very hands-on, from taking your loved one to an appointment and asking questions to taking notes, helping with next steps, and keeping family members informed.
