About Us
Dementia Engagement Specialist, Your Elder Experts
Beth has worked with older adults and their families throughout her 30-year career in social work. She has a deep appreciation for the perspective that comes with age and life experience and understands how family histories, relationships, values, strengths, and challenges can shape the experience of aging and caregiving.
A thoughtful and empathetic listener, Beth brings particular expertise in aging, caregiving, and dementia, with a focus on meaningful engagement, communication, and grief. She is passionate about creating opportunities for connection and approaches her work with warmth, creativity, and curiosity. As both a professional and a family member, she also understands the uncertainty, grief, exhaustion, and guilt that can accompany caregiving and strives to help families find strategies that support their loved ones while also protecting their own well-being.
Beth created and led the JF&CS Memory Cafe Percolator, a national learning community for people starting or sustaining Memory Cafes, for more than a decade. She later helped develop the national Memory Cafe Alliance, where she now serves as a lead advisor.
Outside of work, Beth loves to draw, paint, and create with others and describes herself, with a sense of humor, as an “art school dropout.”
What I Wish Families Knew
“It is not a luxury to seek moments of joy and connection amidst the challenges of aging, dementia, and caregiving. It is a necessity. These moments, however long or fleeting, can energize, heal, sustain relationships, and bring meaning to a very challenging time of life.”
